Note that some anti-virus programs may give a false positive for some of these installers. This is particularly true of Avast, Norton and McAfee. The installers that use DOSBox or ScummVM will check online for the most recent version to determine if you should upgrade. Also, if you do not have it installed or if it is outdated the installers will offer to download and install the latest for you. You can always opt out, but if you do not have it installed, you will need to download and install it yourself before using the installer.

DOSBox is the perfect solution for most of Sierra's classic games that came with a DOS interpreter. It provides the environment that the games were written for. It shields you from the many timer bugs that plague these games on modern PCs. Though it is easy to use, many feel intimidated by the task of setting the games up in DOSBox. Help is here. I have written some new installers that will automatically set the games up to start in DOSBox from a Windows shortcut. These installers do not include any games -- you must own the original game discs to use these installers.

Just insert your game CD in your drive and run the installer. If you do not have DOSBox installed, the installer for the DOS games will download and install the latest for you. You will be given a chance to choice a different DOSBox than one installed in 'Program FilesDOSBox', if you wish. The installers that make use of ScummVM can also download and install ScummVM.

Floppy games can be installed by copying the files from the disks into a folder on your hard drive and running the installer from that folder. This makes it possible to install on a computer that has no floppy drive, just copy the files over from a PC that does.

Note for Vista and later Windows users: Avoid installing these games in a systems folder like 'Program Files'. Write access to these folders is limited, which has proven to cause issues with older games.

• Phantasmagoria for DOSBox - Another installer that makes use of Enrico Rolfi's (Endroz) UniSCI tool (to enable CD-less play). It includes a wizard to convert the installed folder into a package ready to burn to DVD with AutoPlay that mimics the original AutoPlay, but initializes quickly. When installing from the created DVD, you can choose between full hard drive install (no disc required for play) or minimal install (DVD needed for play, but with no disc swapping). • Phantasmagoria 2: A Puzzle of Flesh for DOSBox - Update includes fixes for the chapter 4 out of memory and the chapter 5 Invalid audio file format fatal crashes. This installer also makes use of Enrico Rolfi's (Endroz) UniSCI tool (to enable CD-less play). See this thread for more information. You can also try another DOSBox installer by HarroSIN - This non-SHP installer was developed by HarroSIN, a member of the SHP forums. This installer will add a DOS interpreter to the Windows only game and set it up to run in DOSBox. To install the Windows version, go to SquirtTheCat for a new XP/Vista installer by jafa (Note: both the HarroSIN and StC installers require the CDs to play.

Remember, DOSBox can be made full screen at anytime by pressing Alt+Enter. Best of all, no CD is required to play the games, just to install them. I will be making more over time and will consider requests.

If you do not, you must be online to when you install the game to allow the installer to download and install DOSBox for you or the audio file will not be decompressed. King's Quest: Quest for the Crown is a Adventure game published by Sierra Entertainment released on 1987 for Amiga, MAC, MS-DOS. This is the ScummVM version of the game playable on all modern systems.

This is the 1987 Re-release (NOT REMAKE!) They are different.

How to play King's Quest: Quest for the Crown:

1. Download the game and extract it with winrar or 7-zip.
2. Download and install SCUMMVM
3. Launch SCUMMVM and choose add game.
4. Select the folder where you extracted the game.
5. Click OK, then OK.
6. Select Play.
